ACT TUTORING is designed to provide a complete preparation for multiple-choice questions in English, Math, Reading Comprehension, and Science. In addition, the classes include an overview of the optional writing assignment for those who choose to write an essay during the test.
As a rule, ACT TUTORING sessions are one-on-one, with the focus on the personal needs of a student. However, for those who prefer to share the cost and fun, I offer semi-private classes.
Since the preparation for the ACT is very similar to that of the SAT, those students who have already taken the SAT do not need much additional work. Basically, what they need is familiarization with the test and some review of math and grammar.
For those test-takers who begin with the ACT, I offer an evaluation with a following discussion of strengths and weaknesses. Every student has his or her unique needs, and ACT TUTORING provides various approaches to preparation. For many students, the best bet is to have a preliminary overview of the types of questions, both Math and English. Some prefer to go straight to the test with the following detailed analyses of the errors. Definitely, most of the students would benefit from learning how to use certain tricks and avoid hidden traps. The knowledge of reliable test-taking methods can significantly boost a student’s ACT scores.
A very important part of ACT TUTORING is homework assigned for independent studying. In order to succeed on the actual test, one should practice as much as possible. As a tutor, I prefer to spend our valuable session time on specific topics, test-taking techniques, and analyses of the errors. It is also very important to learn how to keep track of the time during the test and work quickly without getting frustrated. All these issues are addressed during our sessions. In addition to the sessions it is very beneficial for a student to test his skills and knowledge at home.
Since any test may cause emotional stress, I focus on positive aspects of the ACT presenting the test as a challenge and fun! It is similar to sports or other competitions: once you get the taste of success and victory, you become ravenous for more!
