I am a professional teacher and an experienced SAT tutor. If you need a complete preparation for the three sections of SAT (Reading Comprehension, Writing and Language, and Math), I can help you increase your scores significantly.
I have been working as an SAT tutor for years and know everything about the intricacies of the test. My SAT tutoring lessons start with an evaluation of a student’s strengths and weaknesses and a following discussion of the best approach to preparation. From my experience, even this tiny effort may be beneficial because recognition of one’s weaknesses is a gateway to future success.
After the evaluation I help my students organize their preparation work by taking one step at a time and cutting the bulky project into manageable parts. If a student is ready to invest the time and effort, I can dramatically expedite his or her progress by presenting the material in a clear and concise way. (Just look at those SAT books: they are formidable! Who has the patience or time to struggle through hundreds of pages packed with grammar rules, math equations, tricks, shortcuts, and valuable but lengthy advice?). An experienced tutor can do this preliminary work thus allowing a student to focus on solving actual problems.
SAT math covers a range of Math problems. If you are a B+ student, you probably remember most of them and only need to practice. Although the Math section of the SAT includes several really difficult problems that require substantial knowledge and attention, most of the questions are relatively easy and manageable. In fact, after completion of a couple of SAT actual tests most students get used to the specific wording of the questions used by SAT test-makers.
If you do not feel comfortable with school math work, in general, but want to do well on the test, I recommend a different approach. Since the SAT is a standardized test, it includes certain predictable types of problems. By focusing on those problems and reviewing or studying relevant school math (algebra I, Algebra II, geometry, a bit of trigonometry, etc.), it is possible to bring the test score higher and at the same time to improve school grades.
I am a compassionate and patient advisor who understands the possible frustration and stress associated with the test. To relieve the tension, I focus on positive aspects of the SAT presenting the test as a challenge and fun! It is similar to sports or other competition: once you get the taste of success and victory, you become ravenous for more! To make the SAT tutoring more enjoyable for a student, I sometimes offer a semi-private classes, which many students prefer to one-on-one tutoring. If you love company and want to share the cost and fun, this option is available for you.
